Weld Tennis Club

Latest News: Walker Ground Secures YOFE Funding for Weld Tennis Project’

The Weld is a small, friendly club with tennis for all ages and standards. We offer social and competitive players the opportunity to enjoy games in this picturesque part of Southgate.

The club was founded in 1924 as Christ Church Lawn Tennis Club, located adjacent to the old vicarage, on what were known as Chapel Fields.  In the summer 2003, The Guardian described the site as possibly the most beautiful sports ground in the whole of southern England.

The tennis club is managed by its own committee and has its own small clubhouse; however members automatically become members of the Walker Association, enjoying the additional facilities in the main pavilion.

Special events are held regularly throughout the year, including barbecues, tournaments and special skills sessions.  For Juniors, we have after-school sessions with a licensed LTA coach on Thursdays and also Saturday afternoons.

Why not come along and brush up on your tennis?
