Southgate Adelaide Hockey Club
Southgate Adelaide Hockey Club was formed in 1926 and is based at the Walker Ground. Matches are played on Astroturf at the nearby Ashmole School (Cecil Road, Southgate, London N14 5RJ), but we return to the Walker Ground Club house for changing rooms, teas and socializing.
We currently run four men’s teams, each plays in the Eastern Counties League South West division, meaning away games are principally against Hertfordshire clubs. Home games are at 12 and 1.30pm Saturdays whilst away games but are normally between 11 – 4.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly club that welcomes new faces. We have teams for all tastes, whether the more serious First XI or the more ’socially focused’ Fourth XI.
The season runs from mid September to Easter when each year Southgate Adelaide sends a team of mixed ability to the Weymouth Easter Hockey Festival. This is as much a social as a sporting event and suitably reflects the clubs attitude to the sport.
Hendon Hockey Club share the club and Ashmole School facilities and currently run 2 Ladies teams.
Training is on a Tuesday evening in season at Ashmole School at 8.30pm
